Computer science as an engineering discipline has been spectacularly successful. Yet it is also a philosophical enterprise in the way it represents the world and creates and manipulates models of reality, people, and action. In this book, Paul Dourish addresses the philosophical bases of human-computer interaction. He looks at how what he calls "embodied interaction"—an approach to
Interaction Conference. Founded in 2008, the Interaction Design Association Conference brings together practitioners interested in all things around interaction design. Interaction 12 took place in Dublin, Ireland on 1–4 2012. Interactions 13 is set to take place in February 2013 in Toronto. See all posts
Properties of design materials and tools play a major role in a designer’s work – and even small changes can create a better and more creative environment. The embodied interaction is a seminar for me and Lorenzo. It is divided into two parts, one for the presentation and one for the workshop. In the early stages of preparation, we conducted a series of readings, preparing workshops and small games for the warm-up. Recent embodied interaction designs expand to new technologies such as wearable computing, kinesthetic sensations, full-body interaction, multimodal interaction, and conversational embodied agents (Hobye and Löwgren, 2011).

In her research, she investigates how to support movement teaching and learning through interactive technology. Her research interests include embodied design, cooperative social computing, and play. laia.turmo@im.uu.se View All Laia Turmo Vidal's With VR, it’s embodied interaction. As I’ve been diving into interaction design for VR, the more I see this platform as an amazing playground for exploring new human computer interactions.

Designing user interfaces for ubiquitous computing applications is a challenging task. In this paper we discuss how to build intelligent interfaces.
The idea of Embodied Interaction reflects a number of recent trends that have emerged in the area of Human-Computer Interaction. For instance, "tangible computing" (as conducted, for example, by Hiroshi Ishii and colleagues at the MIT Media Lab ), is an area of HCI research where people are exploring how we can move the interface "off the screen" and into the real world.

I guess the soap dispenser's previously calm nature was attributed to a slowing dying battery, because one day the same dispenser's character completely changed, to what I can only attribute a battery change.

iterative design approach to the design of learning systems with embodied metaphor-based interaction models. An interaction model specifies the mappings between input action and output response. Although metaphorical map-pings are promoted by several others (e.g., [22, 23, 37]), little is known about how to identify embodied metaphors,
